Unfortunately, a single best disc for beginners does not exist, as different discs can be suitable for different players. Generally, beginners will experience better results using understable discs rather than stable or overstable ones. Beginners can often throw midranges or fairway drivers just as far as high-speed distance drivers, if not farther. Lightweight discs may be more suitable for children, older players, and female players.
You can find our selection of beginner-friendly discs here. If you want us to select several beginner-friendly discs for you, check out our beginner four-disc mystery box.
Also, here are some of our favorite choices for each driver class.

An overstable disc has a tendency to curve hard to the left when thrown backhand by a right-handed player. A stable disc will generally finish straight, while an understable disc will tend to curve to the right. For left-handed or sidearm throws, the direction of the fade will be reversed due to the different spin generated by the throw. For example, an overstable disc thrown by a sidearm or a left-handed player will tend to fade to the right.
As a beginner, you may find understable discs to be more forgiving until you develop your form and gain more practice. We recommend starting with understable fairway drivers, such as the Innova Leopard or the Latitude 64 Diamond. Also, you may visit our beginner-friendly section.
To help you find the perfect disc for your game, we use our proprietary computer vision software to measure the PLH and dome of each disc so that you can know how the disc will fly before making a purchase. Here's how these key measurements help explain why two discs that seemingly look the same can fly very differently.
PLH (Parting Line Height): This refers to the height of the seam along the edge of the disc where the top and bottom halves of the mold meet. PLH is one of the biggest indicators of a disc's stability. Generally, when comparing two discs of the same mold, a higher PLH means the disc will be more overstable, while a lower PLH makes the disc more understable. Our software actually measures the areodynamic stagnation point, which more accurately reflects where the air splits above and below the disc.
Dome: This describes the curvature, or "pop-top," of the disc's flight plate. Discs with a pronounced dome offer more glide and usually are more overstable throughout the flight. Conversely, discs with a flat top (less dome) tend to have less glide and offer more overstability at the end of the flight. Flat-top discs also tend to cut through the wind better, and are often preferred by players looking for a comfortable forehand grip.
These flight characteristics tend to be most noticeable when comparing higher speed discs of the same mold.

At 1010 Discs, we list the weights provided to us by the manufacturers as indicated on the disc itself through ink, stickers, or embossment. Some manufacturers, like Discraft, utilize weight ranges. In such cases, we list the higher number within the range. For instance, if a disc has a stickered weight range of 170-172g, we will list it as 172g.
We understand that there can be slight variances of a gram or two when using different scales. If you happen to notice any significant differences between the listed weight from the manufacturer and the weight you measure, please reach out to our support team. We will gladly assist you in finding a suitable solution.

- Check Your Balance: Verify the exact amount remaining on your prepaid Visa card.
- Buy a Digital Gift Card: Go to the 1010 Discs Digital Gift Card page and purchase a gift card for the exact amount available on your prepaid card. Use your prepaid Visa card to complete this transaction.
- Check Your Email: You will receive an email containing your new 1010 Discs digital gift card code.
- Place Your Main Order: Add the items you originally wanted to purchase to your shopping cart and proceed to checkout.
- Split the Payment: At checkout, apply your 1010 Discs gift card code first to deduct that amount from your total. Then, use your preferred alternative payment method (like a credit card or PayPal) to cover the remaining balance.
