The MVP Detour fits nicely between the Hex and the Uplink, offering a slightly understable flight with enough stability for control and consistency. Great for all skill levels.
MVP says this about the Detour: “Fitting perfectly between the Axiom Hex and the MVP Uplink, the newest addition to the James Conrad lineup slides in with flight numbers of 5 | 5| -2| 1. As a backhand-dominant player, Conrad is known for his beautiful turnover lines, and the Detour excels beautifully at those long panning turnovers as well as easy hyzer-flips. Experienced players will find the Detour to be exceptionally easy to manipulate for a wide variety of shot shapes, while newer players will find a delightfully straight flier, perfect for learning the game.”
The MVP Detour is an amazing disc for players of all skill levels. Designed by James Conrad (2021 PDGA World Champion), he wanted the Detour to be a workable midrange for straight shots in the woods and turnover lines, especially since he is a backhand-only player. With the flight numbers 5 | 5 | -2 | 1, the Detour fits nicely between the Axiom Hex and MVP Uplink.
For lower-speed arms, it flies straight with a gentle fade. Furthermore, it can hold an anhyzer even with less power. For advanced players, the Detour is a little more forgiving than the Uplink, allowing it to hold a pushing anhyzer while offering enough stability to keep it from burning into the ground. If thrown with power on a slight hyzer, the Detour will flip and drift to the right before gently fading at the end.
If you're looking for a slightly understable midrange that offers a lot of distance without losing control, the Detour is an incredible option.

Flight Metrics
Speed
The velocity required to reach a disc's optimal flight path. Range: 1 to 15.
Glide
The measure of lift generated by a disc to stay aloft. Range: 1 to 7.
Turn
The velocity, relative to the speed of the disc, required to cause the disc to turn with the direction of spin. Range: +1 to -5.
Fade
The low-velocity stability that causes a disc to hook at the end of its flight. Range: 0 to 5.
Had some more time to work with it, and throwing it better, it needs spin to stabilize. I prefer it over the sol. It's a good bit less stable than the hex. The hex fades a bit left, detour right, a beat in hex.
One of my personal favorite midranges. Has amazing feel in the hand and a fantastic smooth flight. If I had to nit-pick, it may be slightly more understable than you expect. MVP/Axiom tends to run a bit on the stable side, but the Detour is not like that, very true to the numbers. Everyone needs a midrange like this: semi-understable that can be shaped for any shot.
Great disc. Such a smooth flight. Holds line with a soft fade. This is my go-to midrange now.
1010 has great selection, great prices and fast shipping.
I love MVP discs,, so I’ve been trying their midranges for a while. All the Hex’s I’ve tried were to stable for my older arm. Once I tried the Detour, I saw how easy to throw and shape this disc was. Great hand feel and performance. Looking forward to seeing this disc in more plastic types. Thank 1010 and MVP Discs!
