Discraft says this about the Raptor: "Confidence is king! This Raptor driver has been a collaboration between Discraft's Team Discraft captain, Paul Ulibarri and their R&D guys, delivering the customer the most confidence they've ever felt in a driver under 300ft. Helpfulness

I'm a fairly new player and this disc in Z plastic is my go to forehand driver when I need overstability. I should try a lighter version per some recommendations, but I consistently get around 240-270 feet throwing this forehand depending on wind conditions. Need to throw it more backhand and see how it flies, but it definitely stays in my bag.
#1 Forehand Disc
Dec 15, 2023
I bag the ESP Sparkle 2023 Ledgestone Raptor. There is a reason why this bag belongs in everyone's bag. It is, in my opinion, the best disc to throw forehand. This disc is very flat, with a great rim to get a clean release. I'd think even beginners could get a clean release with it. I like that has slightly more glide than the Firebird but that still has a place in my bag. I can get about 340' with a full flight and clean release out of this disc but i'd say it's perfect for spike hyzers (fh or bh) and flat or anny forehands for 300' and in.
I bag the Raptor in ...

I bag the Raptor in two different plastic blends, and it fills different roles in the different plastics.
Midnight Cryztal:
This run of Ledgestone Cryztal raptors are beautifully flat topped and overstable. It fills the beefy fairway slot nicely, handling plenty of torque and providing a reliable finish. It's great for sidearm and backhand flex shoes and spike hyzers.
Jawbreaker:
The Jawbreaker Raptor is much less overstable than it's Z or Cryztal counterpart. Brand new it has reliable overstability, and as it beats in it grows straighter and straighter. Currently mine is straight to overstable, very workable and useful for moderate flex lines and flat to fade shots.
For beginners I'd recommend a Jawbreaker or lightweight (155-165 gram) ESP Raptor for an overstable fairway. More advanced players will enjoy the overstability of Z or Cryztal plastic.
