Max Disctance says this about the retriever: "This is the official patent-pending Max Stick retriever! It is 16ft long with the Max Disctance suction cup ball attachment. It also has a loop on the end of the pole to help clip it to your bag or cart. These are the Gen2 version."
It's no surprise that the Max Disctance 16-foot steel retriever is one of the most popular disc golf accessories on the market. Its combination of functionality, affordability, and durability makes it an essential tool for every disc golfer's bag. Max Disctance's innovative suction-ball attachment design shines especially when it comes to rescuing discs from the water.
Like any metal tool, the steel pole can show signs of rust after prolonged exposure to wet conditions. Simply dry the pole thoroughly after use to extend its lifespan significantly. Furthermore, applying a dry lube to the pole's joints can further improve its overall lifespan. Max Disctance also offers more premium, carbon fiber options that won't rust. You may see those linked below under the “Other Max Disctance Retrievers” heading.

I bought one because six of us play every week and a friend has one we use every week. It’s a great tool for getting discs out of trees, streams and briar patches. If he’s not around we would be in trouble so I had to get one.
I usually never leave reviews but I bought this product a month ago I used it a total for 3 times. First two times were great nice and easy to use, 3rd time my disc was in a little stream I gently went down to try to retrieve my disc and the pole completely bent in half and split into two. Am very disappointed because it defiantly is a useful tool but it’s not worth me spending 50 dollars for it to break this quickly.
We are sorry to hear that! This should be covered under Max Disctances 90 day warranty. Please reach out to our support email with your order # and pictures of the damage.

Excellent product! I haven’t had it long and have already put it to use multiple times, for myself and other people. Great choice if you need one!
Great price & prompt shipping. Got it primarily for a water retriever but have used it to retrieve my disc from poison ivy and once from stuck up in some kudzu. Works great.
I little heavy, but that is needed for strength. I received it and on the first day I used it I retrieved 6 discs. It paid for itself on the first day.
Super novel idea. The suction works well, it’ll stick on almost any flat surface dry or wet.
Doesn’t work well in running water or in vegetation. You have to “stick” the disc, meaning you need to have room to slap it. All the torque broke my pole after about 6 months of use.
