Prodigy says this about the A2: "The Prodigy Disc A2 is an overstable utility disc that fills the gap between midranges and putters. The A2 is perfect for power throwers who want to avoid the possibility of their shot turning over. The disc is consistent and reliable in all wind conditions and perfect for short, trick shots as well as high wind approach shots. The A2 is a beadless cousin to the A1 and will fly just slightly less stable than the A1. You can expect and extra 30 to 40 feet of glide than the A1."

Helpfulness
more stable than zone/tactic/insert overstable ...

more stable than zone/tactic/insert overstable 4 speed putter
I haven’t beat a lower grade plastic one in yet, just picked up a 300 glow to see how that goes. in 400 and 750 these are workhorse approach discs. chip shots for days, forehand and backhand. can’t go wrong for this slot
My most used approach disc
Aug 25, 2023
The Prodigy A2 is my most used approach disc both forehand and backhand. I love the shallow and beadless profile. The 300 plastic (baseline) will skip very little and is my top choice if I want minimal ground action. I bag a 400 plastic for the extra stability and for some skips.
The A2 flies straight with a nice hard fade at the end. It has more fade than the Discraft Zone. The A2 complements the A5 well, which is a torque resistant approach disc, but with less fade than the A2.
Throw Your Zone Away
Sep 2, 2021
For reference, at the time of this review I throw good course shots (not max distance field shots) at 360ft to 400ft consistently with high speed drivers (Bushnell measured). RHBH. Sea level. Baby hyzer release. Very little flutter out of the hand.
I love the A2. I used a Zone before, but my Zone always carried just a bit further straight before hooking up than I felt like it should. Picked up a cheap x-out 300 plastic A2 at one point years ago now and have never gone back. In fact that disc is still in my bag. A premium plastic A2 or brand new 300 A2 will hook up hard. Much more suddenly than my Zone did. The A2 comes out fast and carries, but the moment it begins to slow down, it just dives. Then if you keep a base plastic A2 in your bag a long time and let it get beat to hell, it basically turns into an amazing overstable midrange. I throw mine for anything over 200ft and under 300ft backhand off the tee. Then I also use it for standstill approach shots BH and FH from the field.
Generally speaking, the A2 is pretty shallow and it is small diameter. Speed wise it is a slow mid or very fast putter. Even after beating one up severely, it will still completely resist turning over - even as the harsh fade lessens to just a consistent finish. When my 300 A2 was new, it kicked the Zone out of my bag. As it beat in, it kicked out my mids, too.
You can keep your Zones and Harps and Rats and Tactics and whatever else. The A2 is the disc for me.
Great appoach disc

I was looking for a replacement for my Harp, it just never felt right in my hand, but other discs just didn't have the level of overstability I wanted. Until the A2! This thing will come back every time! It has a severe fade, almost dumpy, which is what I was looking for. The A2 feels incredible in your hand, I got the 300 series plastic (think Innova DX style plastic) because I wanted it to stick and not skip too far. I LOVE this disc! It has become my go to short approach disc!
