Designed to fly like a seasoned Destroyer, the Innova Racer pushes the boundaries for a long-distance driver that goes far without requiring elite power.
Innova says this about the Racer: "Right out of the box, the Racer flies like your trusty, seasoned Destroyer that took months to beat in. The uniquely curved, beaded rim gives this long-range control driver a smooth, mild fade. With a 6 glide rating, the Racer wants to stay in the air and carry towards your target, even on a hyzer release. Get repeatable distance on forehand and backhand flip-up lines. To all advanced and pro players, next time you need to replace that perfectly seasoned Destroyer, reach for a Racer."
The Innova Destroyer may be the best-selling distance driver of all time. Unfortunately, it's too overstable for most disc golfers to reach their maximum distance. Designed to fly like a beat-in Destroyer, the new Innova Racer is the answer for a long-distance driver that goes far without requiring elite power.
The Racer bridges the gap between the Destroyer and Shryke, offering phenomenal distance while maintaining enough stability to keep you in the fairway. According to Innova, its unique wing is rounded like an airplane wing, giving it a long, straight flight with plenty of glide when thrown at the right power and angle.
While amateurs will enjoy the Racer's workable flight, advanced players can take advantage of its seasoned-destroyer-like flight right out of the box.
Our Take on the Innova Racer
Flight Metrics
Speed
The velocity required to reach a disc's optimal flight path. Range: 1 to 15.
Glide
The measure of lift generated by a disc to stay aloft. Range: 1 to 7.
Turn
The velocity, relative to the speed of the disc, required to cause the disc to turn with the direction of spin. Range: +1 to -5.
Fade
The low-velocity stability that causes a disc to hook at the end of its flight. Range: 0 to 5.
This is the first of my discs that I absolutely love. It Flys exactly like you would think, just like a beat in destroyer with a little bit of stability. The first run star blizzard rim plastic has an amazing grippy feeling, and a really cool design. I throw this thing any time I have a nice open tee pad. Pretty good for wooded courses too.
This is a story of two discs. The 'blizzard rim' Racer is NOT the same disc as the 'normal rim' Racer. The 'normal' rim Racer is the disc I think it was intended to be. A stable disc that flies somewhat like a beat in Destroyer. Will flip up and travel straight, with a pushing forward fade. The 'blizzard rim' Racer is almost Mamba like in its ability to turn. It is a great turnover or hyzerflip disc, but they are NOT any variation of Destroyer I have ever thrown :)
The Racer seems to fly pretty true to the flight numbers, but I have noticed that it hardly has enough stability when thrown hard into a headwind (more than 400 feet).
